About the Teacher

Reginald Jackson has had a multi-faceted teaching career that includes elementary school through university levels. Past students have been 1st chair players in the Air Force Band, the Army Field Band, and the Naval Academy Band in Annapolis. Other students have performed with the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, the Army Blues, and the Army Band. Many past students now lead successful careers in all areas of music - including performance and university teaching.

In addition to his public school experience, Mr. Jackson has been on the faculties of Howard University, the University of Maryland at College Park, Catholic University, and Bowie State University. He has also taught at several universities and conservatories in the United States and Europe, including North Texas University, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Ghent Conservatory in Belgium, the Maastrich Conservatory in Holland, and many others.

His radio and television concerts have been broadcast on Chinese National Radio, Belgian National Radio, National Public Radio in the United States, and Voice of America. He is heard daily on National Public Radio broadcasts.

Since retiring from full time university teaching, Mr. Jackson has been teaching in Montgomery County, Maryland at his private studio. Each year his students are members of county and state honor bands, and many have decided to pursue music as a career.

As part of this web site, Mr. Jackson is making available recordings of compositions used at solo and ensemble festivals. While the main purpose of this recording project is for Mr. Jackson's students to be able to hear the pieces they are preparing for festival, everyone is welcome to view the Recordings Available and hear the music. Additional pieces are always being added , so check back if your piece is not listed. Feel free to download any of the materials that are of interest.
